In the story of the Good Samaritan Jesus lays out a clear picture of what loving our neighbor looks like. But much like the lawyer in the story we search for the loophole. Imagine yourself standing there in-front of Jesus and this command is given to love your neighbor comes out. So you ask the follow up question, Jesus who is my neighbor? In that moment, who are you hoping in that moment doesn’t come up? Who are you hoping Jesus doesn’t point too? Who are you hoping is left off the list? Because there’s a good chance it’s “those” people that Jesus is going to point to and say they are your neighbor.
